Pearls of hope changed my life in significant ways, when I look back at the person I used to be when I first started 7 years ago, and compare it to who I am now, the difference is quite noticeable. I started as a girl who was lost, didn't know who she is, or what she was supposed to do with her life. But pearls of hope was like that street light for me, it illuminated my path to allow me to see the potential in my self, and more importantly to see the ultimate purpose in my life. Everything we have done, from the halaqas to the discussions we have to the crafts we make, all has also given me a sense of sisterhood and belonging, and ultimately made me more proud and confident of who I am as a Muslima. Allah sends all of us blessings in our life, for me, Allah sent me Pearls Of Hope, and I believe that it is one of the best blessings that Allah gave me, because I know for a fact that without it, I wouldn't be the person that I am today.”
I have been at pearls for 3 years now and I have enjoyed every year there. The comradary between the girls and the riveting hallaqas taught by Sr. Danyal are things that have benefited my life personally and will continue to in the future”
Pealrs has impacted my life and as well as my daughter who spent 5 years of her life learning how.to.balance between her life and her deen. She became a strong girl that can stand on her feet anywhere in life. She will always be a Pearl that is special and valuable. Amal Osman”
It was through a friend that I became aware of the Pearls of Hope community center. After attending a couple events sponsored by the center, I was interested in volunteering but was unsure of my ability to commit. It was at these events that I saw how friendly everyone was as well as the diversity, patience, and the effort to mentor our muslim youth, especially with everyone's busy schedules. I finally started volunteering last fall with the Charms Program at the center. I assist with activity setup and classroom organization. It has been a rewarding and challenging experience. I often feel I am learning along with the girls. I am grateful to be apart of the program and the center and that I can take a nap after!”
